Your Questions Answered

"Is it expensive?"
"Well that isn't something we hear very often! Our rates are extremely low and start at just £59.95 + vat. All advertising and marketing expenditure should be measured in 'cost per thousand' readers to establish whether it is a good advertising platform for your business or not. To calculate your cost per thousand please refer to the Rate Card information printed in this media pack. Even our most expensive advert (the back page) calculates at just £14.00 per thousand readers - where else can you promote your business for such a low price and more importantly, directly into the heart of your key customer base?"

"Does it really rain enough to have a special brochure?"
"Recent figures from the MET office show rainfall increases of over 50% in this area year on year. As we know from the Spring/Summer 2007 and early 2008 floods, our climate can be unpredictable and people need somewhere to go when there is a threat of wet weather. Tourists from the UK and abroad prepare for our temperamental weather when they visit the area and like to plan so that their visit is not ruined unnecessarily. We provide you with great marketing on two levels. If bad weather is expected, visitors will pick up the brochure to be on the safe side but they will also refer to it for fair weather things to do as well. Also, even when the weather looks to be good there is still a comedy value to the booklet; people will still pick it up just to be on the safe side!"

"There seems to be a lot of tourist publications in my area"
"You are right, there are a lot of leaflets on the market but most of them are providing information about one attraction. Many of our customers have found that advertising with us allows them 'two bites of the cherry'. We have spent a lot of time designing this brochure to ensure that it incorporates all the relevant business types under one umbrella (so to speak!). We can bring you the visitors that are staying in hotels and B+B's as well as the people who are visiting other attractions and places of interest in the area whether it is raining or not."

"Should we advertise in a first issue?"
"Like any business there has to be a first day. Even maybe with your own business, you hoped to attract customers in the first few weeks of trading. The customers of our first issue's enjoy the benefits of good rates and the perks of being a loyal advertiser in future publications. The rates are also very cost effective and even though it is the first one you only need to attract a couple of genuine customers to cover the costs. Marketing a business can be confusing when it comes to choosing the right medium, but we make it easier for business like yours as we only reach your target audience - there are no wasted copies going to people who are not interested."

"I am out of the area, how will it help my business?"
"When people visit an area they will often want to explore the surrounding areas too. Those businesses that are within an easy travel time should not miss out on reaching our 30,000 readers per issue and 60,000 per year. We also believe that when the weather is bad that people will look further afield for things to do, especially as the places of interest: stately homes etc. tend to be on the outskirts of the cities."

"Should I advertise with all my competitors?"
"This is a common concern from our new advertisers but once we remind them that nearly all advertising tends to group business types together, yellow pages for example, they understand that there are many benefits to it. Our readers will search by business type and if your advert is not alongside your competitors then you will be missing out on potential revenue. More importantly we will ensure your advert looks good and promises benefits and great reasons why people should try you first. We can design your advert to ensure it stands out. Most of our customers do not want to miss out on a potential 60,000 extra customers a year and recognise that they do need to be seen!"

"Do these types of brochures really work?"
"It really depends on the brochure. A successful visitor's guide should guarantee you a strong print run and be a fresh idea. We publish 30,000 copies (twice a year) to help build public awareness to your business and are unique in the marketplace, and definitely have a high pick up value. Most of all, it must be cost effective. We can get your business in front of 30,000 tourists and visitors to the area from as little as £59.95 + vat."

"Why do we need to advertise?"
"Sadly some businesses tend to think that they don't need to advertise but even if you have an advert in the yellow pages, print business cards or a fascia board on the outside of your premises then you are already advertising your business in some way. National companies and market leaders recognise that repetition leads to recognition and people need to know where you are and what you have to offer. We would like you to consider allocating a small amount of your advertising budget to ensure that you don't miss out on the visitors and tourists that could be spending their money with you."

"I don't need to go in both issues, do I?"
"Most of our customers have said the opposite actually. We find that beginning your marketing for the Spring and early Summer tourist traffic means that you can plan ahead and avoid the bottle necking that businesses tend to get caught up in as the months fly by. We prefer to be prepared and ensure all our customers have designed their ads and seen proofs of the brochure in advance so that we are ready to distribute in time for Easter. We can help you pick up that extra business from the first half of the year as well as being ready for the busy Summer and Autumn periods. It's never too early to prepare for extra business!"
